Grounded in history with an eye toward the future
The history of BP Energy Partners is rooted in a legacy that begins long before 2012. Our firm was founded by Alex Szewczyk and Michael Watzky with the support of the late T. Boone Pickens, an American energy icon who anticipated the global energy transition decades prior to our current mainstream discourse and began investing in its future in 1988. He advocated for U.S. industrial decarbonization through increased use of natural gas, wind, nuclear, and other reliable alternatives.
The Pickens Plan, launched in 2008, outlined a multi-decade U.S. energy plan focused on these alternatives as well as decreased reliance on oil, improved efficiencies in the natural gas value chain, and investment in secure, efficient U.S. energy infrastructure. With extensive industry relationships, and a responsibility to our history, we continue to build on Boone’s legacy through our strategy of practical decarbonization and our commitment to a sustainable future for the global energy economy.
